Type 1 diabetes formerly named as juvenile or insulin-dependent diabetes is a chronic (lifetime) disease. This happens when the pancreas (organ producing insulin) produces insufficient insulin that cannot perform to manage the blood sugar levels correctly. This type of diabetes could transpire at all ages but more often is diagnosed with children or young adults.
